As a kid i learned to basic sketching techniques. I thought i wanted to be some sort of comic artist, but never had the resources available to ask the right questions. Eventually, i realized that wasn't gonna happen. Everything and anything i've learned has been a result of stumbling upon random styles. In the end I've stuck to basic sketching and print ideas. i've recently been looking how i can actually design and with the ability to get more use out of my work, which really means getting more people to enjoy and give me their 2cents. I try to get my hands on projects like designing someone's t-shirt, logo, page headers, posters, and even tattoo ideas. However, I've grown further from seeking to be part of a professional market and it has almost turned out to be more of a personal pursuit.
Unfortunately, I don't have an actual portfolio built either. My last collection of GOOD work was destroyed by a bad rain incident. Now I simply scan and store whatever work I think is worth sharing; usually it's work on which I decide to spend more time actually executing.
As far as the study of it goes, I'm back at school as an art student, working with different media every semester; trying to use what I think is more fun and useful. I'm looking forward to the program and it's my first step to becoming an Art teacher. I realized i like sharing and discussing more than trying to slave away at trying to dish out proposals for a quick turn around. So to future high school students: hopefully soon i'll be helping you find a passion, insight, and resources I wish I had at a younger age.
